Assuming the weather is good, is anyone intending on racing?

We've got a great system for volunteering but no sign so far of any interest in competing.

As long as the wind is under 30mph I will be racing. Anyone else up for it?

Thanks for turning out last Sunday. I didn't intend racing, but did come down to offer a but of moral support - by the time I got there everyone except Jess had gone.

Yep, I will be racing too. Echo John’s thanks for last week. I just assumed with the weather it would have been cancelled.

Maybe the volunteers are harder than the racers.....

In terms of a TT going ahead or not going ahead:

The TT is going ahead unless otherwise stated - please keep an eye on the forum if in doubt.

Good to see that people are up for racing on Saturday - who is up for volunteering?

Given the conditions today, I have decided to do a long one tomorrow instead. Enjoy!

The TT goes ahead - even if there is only one rider. If someone makes the effort to coming out to race, they get to race. That also goes for the Evening 10 that has gone ahead with only a handful of riders at the start.

And some Strava top 10s for the outward leg by the looks of things.

A cold and breezy day with the slightest hint of rain at the start saw 8 riders toe the line. All apart from the NCCC members were riding unrestricted gearing.

Fastest overall was James Ison of Melton Olympic with a fast time for this time of the year, the less than great conditions and (according to his Strava), not many watts (Anthony - step away from the credit card Smile)

Looks like anyone just hanging on to the top 10 on Strava for any of the Lime Kiln to Harby segments will have been bumped out after that ride. I suspect there will have been no troubling of the segments on the finishing leg due to headwind.

Other mentions go to (I assume) Gary Ison who was back on the TT bike for the first time in a while after injury, and Tommy Burston from Race Hub on what I believe will have been his first race on our course.

John Odell takes the early bragging rights on the Medium Gear series.

I'm just happy to have survived that!

The tailwind on the way out was too strong to capitalise riding fixed medium gear. Bear in mind that 25mph = 120rpm, my little legs are not used to the high cadence enough to go really fast. And then it was a bit of a slog up from Langar. I was most worried about cross wind between Harby and Langar, but it wasn't too bad...

Thanks and kudos to the volunteers today. Was of those where it was easier to ride than stand on the side of the road!

It'd be nice to get a few more club members out next sunday (note the 4 from Melton Olympic!).

A bright and cool morning for the third installment of the Medium Gear - "perfect Medium Gear weather" according to some.

Eleven riders in total - three from Clarion with JohnO and Simon Cooper battling it out on the Medium Gears.

Scores on the Doors:

Medium Gears
John Odell 25:50
Simon Cooper 26:29

Private Trials(i.e. not Medium Gear or Clarion)
James Isoa 22:05
Stewart Bates 24:04
Mich Stevens 24:51
Tommy Burston 25:05
Gary Isoa 25:21
Michael Jones / Oli Nuthall (2 Up) 25:46
John Atkin 27:08

Alan Nicolson DNF

We thought we had lost one. Luckily he only got lost. Fortunately, we had two timekeepers at the finish that meant one of them could go and look for the lost person - who was found, thanks to Anabel, and put everyone's mind at rest.
